As of last week, 2,105 boys and men were circumcised during the first nine days of a three-week male circumcision campaign in Tanzania’s Shinyanga region. Male circumcision services, which are part of an IntraHealth International-led HIV prevention effort, started in late November 2010 and have now reached 2,795 boys and men out of the 25,000 the project aims to reach by September 2011.

As part of the IntraHealth-led global project CapacityPlus’s innovative workforce development strategy, the project has created a Global Advisory Board on Strengthening Medical, Nursing, and Public Health Schools in Developing Countries. The board will help to address management issues in health professional schools.

Earlier this week, the North Carolina Medical Journal published an article, “Linking Challenges, Sharing Solutions: The Global Crisis in Human Resources for Health,” which suggests that strategies for remedying the global health workforce crisis could also be useful in North Carolina.
