While the national HIV burden in Honduras is relatively low, it is heavily skewed toward key populations and marginalized individuals. IntraHealth and our partners are focused on reaching these clients with high-quality, stigma-free services and work together to reach as many people living with HIV as possible with care and treatment. To help Honduras achieve a self-reliant HIV/AIDS response strategy, IntraHealth is collaborating with the ministry of health, social security institutes, and National AIDS Program to strengthen national capacity and address HIV-related policies, set priorities, and provide services


Selected Achievements

Through the establishment of two new cadres of health workers in Central America, retained more than 4,000 people at risk of dropping out of ART, and recovered 2,570 people who had dropped out of treatment.
Trained and deployed 27 adherence promoters to work across 30 HIV clinics in Central America
Developed and helped 20+ higher education institutions across Central America integrate a new HIV curriculum into their nursing, medical, or other health professional training programs.
Utilized the OPQ approach in 100 hospitals, 37 HIV clinics, and 65 health centers to support training of over 10,000 health workers in HIV counseling and testing, stigma and discrimination prevention in Central America.
