One Nurse's Best Day at Work

Spend one minute with Phylis Cherono Siele, a nurse who works in the comprehensive care unit at Tenwek Mission Hospital in Kenya.

Phylis's happiest day at work, she says, was when she helped a distraught client who had come in for HIV testing.

Fortunately, she was able to give him some good news.

That was something that gave me a lot of joy.

Phylis was one of the first health workers to participate in a training on antiretroviral therapy that was provided by IntraHealth’s FUNZOKenya Project. At Tenwek, Kenyan nurses are learning from the best.

Meet the Health WorkersThe "I'm a Health Worker" video series features short, informal conversations with health workers all over the world. Contact us if you’d like to share your own interview with a health worker.

IntraHealth International's FUNZOKenya Project is funded by the US Agency for International Development.  Also read:

'As a health worker, what would help me to save more lives would be to be updated on the current issues and the current management of patients,' Phylis says, 'going to trainings, seminars, workshops that will make my knowledge to be updated so that I can give appropriate care to my patients.'
