Sidy Amar

Project director, MOMENTUM Safe Surgery in Family Planning and Obstetrics Senegal

Sidy is the project director for the MOMENTUM Safe Surgery in Family Planning and Obstetrics project in Senegal. He is a medical doctor and public health specialist with experience in emergency obstetric care including caesarean deliveries. He has been working in the Senegalese health system for 13 years, both as a health district chief physician and operating room manager.

Sidy joined IntraHealth in 2019 as the head of the regional coordination office in Diourbel, Senegal for the USAID-funded Neema project. He led a consortium of seven nonprofits to implement new approaches such as Tutorat 3.0 and seasonal malaria chemo prevention campaigns before becoming the director of the MOMENTUM Safe Surgery in Family Planning and Obstetrics in Senegal project.

Sidy earned his doctoral degree in medicine in 2007 after receiving his master of public health degree from Cheikh Anta Diop University in Dakar, Senegal.
