Dr. Salif Samake

Lead Advisor, Governance and Accountability, DFID Tackling Deadly Disease in Africa Programme

Salif Samake, MD, MPH is a committed advocate for equitable partnerships for health development and for national leadership in health and a prominent stakeholder in the international health development community. He is member of the technical advisory group on human resources for health in the WHO AFRO region and member of the WHO 2019 global symposium on health workforce accreditation. He is also a regular consultant and advisor for key international organizations such WHO, UNICEF, World Bank, AfDB, UNFPA, USAID, UNAIDS, GAVI Alliance, DAI, DFID and countries and governments in West and Central Africa.

Dr. Samake coordinates the Malian health and social development program after having held many prominent technical positions in the department of health. He has held roles as permanent secretary and senior advisor in charge of public health matters; senior advisor in charge of health facilities in the ministry of health and sanitation; president of the country coordination mechanism for Global Fund processes; director of the planning and statistics unit of the ministry of health, minister in charge of social affairs; minister in charge of women's promotion; and national director of health.  

With high-level experience in health policy and reforms, global health, health systems strengthening, human resources for health, and community health issues, he is specialized in health aid efficiency and human resources for health development, the integration state actors in West, Central, and Southern Africa; global health security, and international health security issues in sub-Saharan Africa. 

Dr. Samake will present as part of IntraHealth's official side event at the Seventh Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD7).
