More than 680 Participants Enroll in IntraHealth’s New eLearning Course

In just six weeks, more than 680 participants from 95 countries have enrolled in IntraHealth’s new eLearning course—An Introduction to Monitoring and Evaluation of Human Resources for Health—produced by CapacityPlus’s HRH Global Resource Center.

The self-paced, open access course introduces key monitoring and evaluation (M&E) concepts and how they apply to the field of human resources for health (HRH). It also provides an overview of resources and tools to inform evidence-based planning and decision-making for HRH programs.

By definition, health workers play a crucial role in efforts to improve global health. But for many, the question remains about how best to demonstrate the impact of HRH interventions on health outcomes, and what to measure?

The new course intends to give HRH and M&E practitioners, global health students, program planners, and policy-makers a foundation for answering that question—without any prior knowledge of M&E. The course includes a case study exercise that helps participants apply key concepts they’ve learned to select indicators for measuring an HRH program, and users can seek additional guidance from peers and project staff in a discussion board forum.

As with all courses on the HRH Global Resource Center eLearning platform, An Introduction to Monitoring and Evaluation of Human Resources for Health is a low-bandwidth-friendly, free course available to anyone who wishes to learn about the topic.

The eLearning program is part of IntraHealth International’s strategy to promote innovative approaches to making knowledge about health workforce development more widely available through its global project, CapacityPlus, and other projects.

For more information about the course, read an interview with Carie Muntifering, an IntraHealth M&E advisor who tested it and shares her user’s perspective.
