The Tanzania Human Resource Capacity Project—a Capacity Project Associate Award—is supporting parasocial workers, a new cadre of community social worker serving the country’s most vulnerable children. To bolster this support, the IntraHealth International-led CapacityPlus global project is examining ways to use mobile phone technology as a tool for supportive supervision.

Ugandan Health Managers Build Skills in Using Data

“[We] need to know the current health workers in health facilities under UPMB [Uganda Protestants Medical Bureau]. . . and I had just started collecting [health facility] data, but I could not come up with enough details given the difficulty with managing data manually,” admits Ruth Nabagala, UPMB monitoring and evaluation officer. “This training enabled me to realize that human resources information systems can help us know the number of health workers we have and the gaps that need to be filled.”

On April 27 the "Be Strong—Get Tested" Male Engagement Campaign launched, encouraging Namibian men to get tested for HIV. IntraHealth and NawaLife Trust, in collaboration with the Ministry of Health and Social Services and with support from the US President's Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief, collaborated on this mass media campaign.
