Yidnekachew Tessema Joins IntraHealth’s Executive Team as New Vice President, Human Resources

IntraHealth International is happy to welcome Yidnekachew Tessema as our new vice president for human resources. Tessema began in this new role on June 16, 2021.

As a member of the executive team, Tessema will lead, develop, and execute IntraHealth's global human resources (HR) strategy in support of the overall business plan and strategic direction of the organization. He will oversee HR operations, talent acquisition and management, and IntraHealth’s total rewards program, as well as work with the executive team and board of directors on HR plans and organizational needs.

“I’m so happy Yid has joined our executive team here at IntraHealth,” says Polly Dunford, IntraHealth’s president and CEO. “During his time here, he has shown incredible leadership and dedication to improving our systems, processes, and practices. He is going to play a key role in shaping our organization as we hire great new talent, retain the phenomenal staff we have, and increase the impact of our programs around the world.”

Prior to joining IntraHealth as director of global HR in 2019, Tessema served as a head of international HR operations at RTI International for six years. He has held several HR management roles, providing support and expertise in global HR operations, performance and talent management, training and development, business process improvement, coaching and mentoring, and recruitment. He has managed and led global HR projects including defining HR global standards for country projects and developing global HR training programs. Tessema has traveled, worked, and supported project HR and support functions in more than 40 countries.

“When I started at IntraHealth two years ago, I was ready to provide the best support possible to our global teams so they could focus on health workers and the systems in which they work,” Tessema says. “Helping keep our staff around the world safe during the pandemic has made me even more dedicated to that effort.”
