New Publication Suggests Global Solutions Apply to North Carolina Workforce Concerns

Earlier this week, the North Carolina Medical Journal published an article, “Linking Challenges, Sharing Solutions: The Global Crisis in Human Resources for Health,” which suggests that strategies for remedying the global health workforce crisis could also be useful in North Carolina. Barbara Stilwell, director of technical leadership, and David Nelson, assistant director of strategic communications co-authored the article.

The article points out that, like many countries globally, North Carolina could benefit from stronger health workforce planning and management, more non-physician health workers, and strategies that encourage health workers to work in underserved areas. The article points to specific resources such as Human Resources for Health Global Resource Center, the Learning for Performance methodology for in-service training, and the HRH Action Framework and website that could be useful to North Carolinian leaders in health workforce management.
