IntraHealth Welcomes New Field Leaders in Rwanda and Senegal

IntraHealth is pleased to welcome Dr. Babacar Gueye as the chief of party for the Maternal, Neonatal, and Child Health/Family Planning/Malaria Project in Senegal and Mr. Christian Stengel as chief of party for the HIV/AIDS Clinical Services Program in Rwanda.

Gueye, who has worked with IntraHealth since 2007, is experienced in teaching and training, clinical work, program management, and communications. As a doctor, public health specialist, and epidemiologist, he has clinical and public health programming experience in malaria, reproductive health/family planning, and maternal and child health. He has previously worked for UNICEF, the Ministry of Health, and Senegal’s military. He has also previously served as the MNCH/FP/Malaria Project’s malaria coordinator and the deputy project director of technical services for IntraHealth.

Stengel, who has over two decades of experience, has previously worked for the International Rescue Committee in the Democratic Republic of Congo as provincial director, South Kivu. He has also held management positions at various organizations based in Rwanda, including the director of Africa operations and management with the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation and the regional director, Francophone Africa, with the International Trachoma Initiative. Stengel also served in the Peace Corps in Togo.

The projects both Gueye and Stengel will lead, the HIV/AIDS Clinical Services Program and the MNCH/FP/Malaria Project, are IntraHealth-led and funded by USAID.
