Capacity Project Releases Toolkit To Strengthen Human Resources Information Systems

Compiling promising practices and lessons learned from five years of human resources information systems (HRIS) work in ten African countries, the IntraHealth-led Capacity Project has published the HRIS Strengthening Implementation Toolkit. The toolkit provides a package of HRIS strengthening processes and tools for human resources for health stakeholders, human resources managers and software developers implementing the Project’s open source iHRIS software.

The toolkit is organized into five sections that correspond to key steps in the HRIS strengthening process. Each section contains several briefs, tools, case studies and other resources designed to guide the HRIS implementer through the process of building HRIS leadership, assessing existing systems, implementing iHRIS software, using data produced by the system to make evidence-based decisions, and sustaining and continuously improving the system.

The toolkit is available online and as a printed notebook. The online toolkit includes the Windows version of the Project’s iHRIS software suite and accompanying documentation necessary to install and customize the software.
