IntraHealth Ranked 12th Among Public Charities In North Carolina

IntraHealth International jumped two spots to number 12 in the Triangle Business Journal’s Book of Lists 2009: Triangle Public Charities. Ranked by revenue, the listing reflects IntraHealth’s recent growth, with income increasing from $24,038,815 to $41,209,958 through government grants and the generous support of private foundations, corporations and individuals.

“Our increased revenue is helping us improve and extend the lives of the people we serve around the world,” said Rebecca Kohler, IntraHealth’s Vice President of External Affairs.

Currently active in 32 developing countries, IntraHealth extended its reach over the past year to include the West Bank, Madagascar and four countries in the Eastern Caribbean.  Through innovative and effective programs, IntraHealth recruits, trains and supports health workers to improve access to HIV/AIDS testing and counseling, family planning, obstetric fistula repair, prevention of mother-to-child transmission of HIV, and many other vital health care services. As IntraHealth approaches its 30th anniversary in 2009, the continued growth of the organization means a stronger ability to meet  the health care needs of under-resourced people around the world.
