Overcoming Critical Barriers to Maternal and Child Survival

Hosts:
Governments of Ethiopia and India

Policy-makers and influencers—including health ministers and representatives from international organizations, NGOs, faith-based organizations, civil society, and the private sector—from 24 countries are coming together to:

  • Highlight successful approaches to increasing the use of high-impact reproductive, maternal, newborn, child, and adolescent health interventions with equity, quality, and sustainability.
  • Increase commitment from countries, the private sector, and NGOs to strengthen the systems required to overcome the remaining key obstacles for maternal and child survival
  • Demonstrate global commitment and continued momentum towards the goal of ending preventable child and maternal deaths.

The event is hosted by the governments of Ethiopia and India with the support of many partner organizations, including USAID, UNICEF, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, NGOs, and private sector actors.

IntraHealth International is joining Save the Children, World Vision, the Frontline Health Worker Coalition, and other partners to co-host a pre-event meeting, Civil Society Ownership of Public Health Outcomes, on August 23. The meeting will focus on the important role of civil society organizations in reaching the 2030 targets for the Sustainable Development Goals related to women and children.
