In Memory of Marcus Pridgen: Honoring Excellence

Our beloved colleague Marcus Pridgen passed away on Wednesday, May 16, 2012 after a long illness. Marcus was exceptional, as a co-worker and as a person. He not only sought excellence in his work but also meaningful connections with his colleagues. He touched the lives of many in the IntraHealth community, and we honor his memory, life, and achievements.

Marcus joined IntraHealth in early 2007 as our first director of contracts, grants and procurement, coming to us with an already accomplished career in global health and development. Marcus systematically built a top-notch team committed to excellence in contracts and grants administration and served as an essential member of our senior leadership team. More than this, he built a strong community of colleagues throughout the organization who felt honored to know him and work with him. Marcus deeply inspired all those around him—through his genuine humility and his positive, can-do spirit; through his wise counsel and high ethical standards; and through his ability to seamlessly balance his profound commitments to both family and work.

Marcus was a consummate professional who gave freely of his time and attention. You could count on him to work with you to solve any problem large or small. He would ask the right questions, collaborate to seek solutions, let you know if he didn’t have the answer, and work meticulously until he did. His high energy, talent for teaching, and strength of character motivated those around him to do their best. The IntraHealth community is stronger, more vibrant, and compassionate because of Marcus.

Marcus is survived by his loving wife and two children, siblings, and an extended family network. We know we speak for the rest of the IntraHealth community in saying that we will never forget or take for granted his contributions or the time we were privileged to spend with him.
