April 26, 2010, Chapel Hill, NC—On April 22, hundreds of colleagues, leaders and supporters from around the world joined global health organization IntraHealth International at the FedEx Global Education Center to commemorate its 30^th anniversary of supporting health workers for sustainable, accessible care.

April 5, 2010, Chapel Hill, NC—IntraHealth International, a 30-year-old North Carolina-based nonprofit focusing on the critical needs of health workers worldwide, recently elected Walter Davenport to its ten-member Board of Directors. Davenport is a certified public accountant who brings four decades of experience working with the nonprofit industry as an auditor and business consultant.

“I’m very thankful to the medical staff from the hospital,” says Verene Nyirahabufite, 22. “They have been very supportive and stayed with me until I gave birth. I was afraid of having a caesarean [section], but I realized it was well done without any complications.”

Nyirahabufite’s first child had been stillborn—she did not reach the hospital in time for the delivery. For her second pregnancy, she decided to go to the health center early. This time, she was transferred from Mucubira Health Center to Gitwe Hospital in time to deliver a healthy boy.
