Health Workforce and Systems Strengthening
Increasing access to basic health care—and responding to critical problems like HIV/AIDS and malaria—relies on having well-trained and supported health workers providing services where they are most needed. Yet shortages and poor distribution of health workers pose serious challenges in many developing countries. IntraHealth is a leader in mobilizing local talent to respond to these challenges at every level of the health care continuum—from the systems that educate and support health workers to the health providers themselves and the communities they serve.
Our key approaches include:
- Assisting countries to improve health workforce policies and planning
- Strengthening human resources information systems to support more informed decision-making
- Making health worker education and training programs more efficient and effective
- Enhancing human resources management
- Promoting practices to increase retention of health workers and improve their productivity
- Expanding global knowledge on human resources for health through the HRH Global Resource Center.
