Helle Weeke leads DAI’s Office of General Counsel, which includes the ethics and compliance portfolio. Helle is the principal legal advisor to the company and responsible for managing all of the legal affairs of DAI. She provides legal support to DAI’s business units and corporate departments.
Prior to becoming DAI’s in-house counsel, Weeke was the technical area manager for economic policy in the Economic and Democratic Governance Sector, where she managed a portfolio of donor-funded projects addressing economic governance, labor standards, and trade and investment issues. During 2006–2007, Weeke served as DAI’s chief of party and senior technical advisor to the Vietnam Competitiveness Initiative project in Hanoi, Vietnam, and during 2002–2006, as a trade lawyer/legal advisor to the Support for Trade Acceleration (STAR-Vietnam) project in Hanoi.
Before joining DAI, Weeke was an attorney in private practice where she specialized in resolving international trade and commercial disputes. She also has worked as an international trade consultant, conducting research on international trade issues for the World Trade Organization, foreign governments, and businesses, as well as for the Conference on Security and Cooperation in Europe and the Royal Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Weeke holds a Juris Doctor (JD) degree from the University of Copenhagen, a Master of Laws (LL.M.) degree from Duke University School of Law, and a Master of International Public Policy from John Hopkins University. She is a native Danish speaker and speaks fluent French, Swedish, and Norwegian.
