1. What is IntraHealth?

IntraHealth International is a leader in mobilizing and developing effective, efficient health care services for the most vulnerable people. IntraHealth has served the public health needs of developing countries for almost 30 years. Begun in 1979 as the Intrah program at the University of North Carolina, IntraHealth was incorporated as an independent non-profit business in 2003. We have worked in more than 50 countries, with the support of the U.S. Government, foundations, corporations and individuals.

2. What does IntraHealth do?

IntraHealth collaborates with leaders and communities to develop the most effective health care solution for a particular environment. Our unique strength lies in our combined expertise in three key areas of health care:

  • Supporting providers to succeed
  • Improving policies and systems for a strong workforce
  • Extending health services to communities.

We bring the clinical and public health expertise needed to meet the specific health and social challenges everywhere we work. These include:

  • Strengthening human resources for health
  • Maternal, neonatal and child health
  • HIV/AIDS and tuberculosis
  • Reproductive health and family planning
  • Malaria
  • Gender equity.

IntraHealth has over 400 employees. Our largest offices are in Chapel Hill, North Carolina; Kigali, Rwanda; and Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
