The i-3 Fund
impact
The i-3 Fund gives individuals, families, corporations and foundations a direct and meaningful way to participate in our work.
The driving principles of the i-3 fund are innovation, immediacy, and impact. Through the i-3 Fund, IntraHealth presents you with the opportunity to help local health workers continue to save lives. By partnering with IntraHealth and giving your support, you will be:
- Creating and implementing innovative initiatives to reach populations and areas outside the scope of those set by government grantors
- Acting upon urgent needs immediately
- Saving more lives.
innovation
Global health leader IntraHealth International is dedicated to saving and improving the quality of lives around the world. Founded by the University of North Carolina’s School of Medicine in 1979, IntraHealth became an independent nonprofit in 2003 and now works in 36 developing countries with over 650 employees.

In just the past year, we have trained and supported more than 20,000 doctors, nurses and other health professionals to provide lifesaving curative and preventive services—including treating over 226,000 children with malaria, safely delivering over 187,000 babies, and counseling and testing nearly 512,000 people for HIV.
We work with governments, local leaders and communities to help bring health care to those who most critically need it, with a special emphasis on strengthening quality and access to maternal, newborn and child health services, family planning, and the prevention and treatment of HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria.
immediacy
Throughout our first three decades of service, we have relied on large government and foundation grants to sustain us, successfully implementing many productive programs and applying state-of-the-art strategies to achieve remarkable results. Major supporters, such as the US Agency for International Development, the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and numerous US foundations partner with us and affirm our effectiveness and efficiency with their continuing support.
Private funding by individuals and corporations has, until now, accounted for a small percentage our operating budget. We recognize that it’s time to give the opportunity to save lives to a broader constituency of supporters than ever before. Private funding affords us the ability to act quickly in a crisis and to respond to urgent needs; it also allows us to further engage in innovative local initiatives with greater agility, resulting in immediate impact.
