Ramata Ouattara, Technical and Operations Manager
“It’s a long and painful story,” says Ramata Ouattara when asked about her career choice in public health. “I decided to work in HIV and related fields when one family member was diagnosed HIV-positive. It is someone I’m very close to. That triggered me to know more about the disease, and later I was advised by my thesis director to consider working in HIV/AIDS, since it was a new and promising field.”
Ramata’s work with IntraHealth focuses on HIV/AIDS prevention, care and support in her role as technical and operations manager for projects in Rwanda, Guinea, Kenya and Burundi. Ramata also works with the training innovation and providers’ performance team.
With the organization since 2007, Ramata chose IntraHealth because she believed it would allow her work to have the greatest impact. She says she asked God to have the organization that would give her the most opportunity be the first offer her a job.
“When IntraHealth made the offer, I accepted it as a sign of my prayer to God,” she explains, then adds, “I don’t regret the choice.”
