New Pfizer Fellow to Join Ethiopia PMTCT Project

Feb 24, 2011

Next month, IntraHealth’s USAID Community PMTCT Project in Ethiopia will host a Pfizer Global Health Fellow for three months.

Michael Benigno, senior manager of economic policy analysis with Pfizer, Inc., will work with the staff in Ethiopia to develop an assessment tool to measure the cost effectiveness of the program’s newborn incentive kits, Mother Support Groups, and community mobilization interventions. He will also create a cost effectiveness training package with which to build the capacity of program staff.

Benigno will be IntraHealth’s seventh Pfizer Global Health Fellow. The fellowship program is supported by Pfizer, Inc. and allows Pfizer employees to complete three-to-six month assignments for non-governmental organizations dedicated to health care in developing countries. Other Fellows have worked with IntraHealth in Tanzania, Namibia, and Senegal.

The USAID Community PMTCT (prevention of mother to child transmission of HIV) Project is led by IntraHealth International-led and funded by USAID.
