Jean-Marie Sinari, Program Manager
“I’m really motivated when I see everything that has been achieved over the years, especially in the area of maternal and child health,” says Jean-Marie Sinari, program manager for the IntraHealth-led Rwandan Adolescent Reproductive Health Initiative. “However, a lot still has to be done in the area of adolescent reproductive health. This encourages me to do my best for our youth and the future of our world.”
The David and Lucile Packard Foundation-funded initiative that Sinari supports is focused on improving reproductive health services among Rwandan adolescents through work with schools, health centers, and communities.
Sinari first knew of IntraHealth during the USAID-funded global PRIME II project in the late ‘90s. As a supervisor in Rwanda’s Gitarama region, Sinari collaborated with PRIME II and other partners to develop the country’s first reproductive health policy. He also collaborated with IntraHealth colleagues on a health insurance plan that eventually was scaled up to become Rwanda’s much-lauded mutuelles program.
“That’s how I discovered and developed an interest in IntraHealth’s participatory strategies,” Sinari says.
When asked what he likes most about IntraHealth, where he has worked for the last five years, Sinari explains, “I like the organization’s integrated and holistic approach, and how it focuses on strengthening the health workforce.”
