On October 27, 12:30 pm, Karine Gabrielyan will give the oral presentation, “Community Nurses in Armenia: Task Shifting for a New Cadre of Nurses.” Part of the session, “Immigration Health: Spanning Boundaries,” Gabrielyan’s presentation will describe how on-site training improved rural nurses’ clinical skills, while saving money and time away from work.

On October 27, 4:30 pm, Awa Ramata Ouattara will present “Involving Men in Prevention of Mother-to-Child Transmission of HIV Programs in Rwanda.” Part of the session HIV/AIDS 2, Ouattara’s oral presentation will examine the effect of involving male partners in rural Rwandan PMTCT programs. 

On October 28, 10:30 am, Zaruhi Mkrtchyan will speak on, “Improving Healthcare in Rural Communities of Armenia through Nurse Training and Community Partnership: Results of Project NOVA Evaluation.” Part of the session, “International Nursing Issues,” Mkrtchyan will discuss the effect of training and equipping rural health post nurses for routine antenatal, postpartum and infant care tasks.

On October 28, 4:30 pm, Ahmad-Rufai Abdullah will present: “Socio-Cultural and Religious Factors Affecting Obstetric Fistula in an Islamic Population in Northern Nigeria: An Exploratory Study”. This poster presentation will examine the way socio-cultural and religious beliefs and practices influence the problem of obstetric fistula in the Kano state of Northern Nigeria.
