In March 2010, three IntraHealth staff—Nirina Ranaivoso from Madagascar, Arkia Doucoure Diallo from Mali, and Rodio Diallo from Senegal—traveled to Kigali, Rwanda to participate in the USAID Family Planning Meeting, Meeting the Family Planning Demand to Achieve MDGs: Vision 2015. The gathering brought together the ministry of health, USAID and cooperating agency staff from 12 priority African countries to discuss ways to accelerate the implementation of family planning (FP) programs in order to address unmet needs by 2015.

Rwanda’s successes in FP were used as an example throughout the meeting, and the Senegal team was particularly impressed by Rwanda’s Performance Based Financing (PBF) model, and learned of importance of using innovative and powerful advocacy tools, like that created under PRB’s ENGAGE project. IntraHealth’s invitation to and involvement in this important meeting illustrates the organization’s key role in this global family planning effort.
