The Importance and Feasibility of Providing Permanent Methods in Low-Resource Countries—and How FIGO Members Can Help

This panel presentation consists of donors, implementing agencies, trainers, and service providers from sub-Saharan Africa who will address drivers of demand for limiting, dimensions of use of permanent methods, and innovative and successful service delivery approaches in low-resource countries. 

Panelists include Roy Jacobstein, IntraHealth's senior medical advisor, and Boniface Sebikali, IntraHealth's senior clinical training advisor. Jacobstein will present "Reproductive Intentions and Permanent Method Use in Low-Resource Countries." Sebikali will present "Men Matter: Key Provider and Client Factors in Successful Vasectomy Service Programs." Other panelists include Asma Khalid (Marie Stopes International) and Patricia MacDonald (United States Agency for International Development). Anibal Faundes (Emeritus Professor, State University of Campinas, Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Campinas, Brazil and Chair, FIGO Working Group on Prevention of Unsafe Abortion) will moderate the session. More details.
