IntraHealth is assisting Botswana’s government and the University of Botswana’s Faculty of Health Sciences to develop strategies to strengthen health care leadership, attract and retain skilled health workers, and improve HIV/AIDS services. These strategies include strengthening and expanding preservice education for health workers, designing a human resources for health retention plan, encouraging the return of health workers who have left to train outside the country, and enhancing the management and quality of health services through team-based quality assurance and leadership development programs. IntraHealth has also assisted the Ministry of Health to collect and digitize existing data on its health workers through a human resources information system.
