Capacity Project/Rwanda Facilitates Country-Wide Skills Audit

Staff from the IntraHealth-led
Capacity Project seconded to
Rwanda’s Ministry of Health (MOH) recently played an integral role in the start of a country-wide skills audit. The audit is an initiative of the Government of Rwanda implemented by its Human Resources and Institutional Capacity Building Agency under the guidance of the Ministry of Public Service and Labor, together with the President's Office. It is designed to assess the gap between skills and resources available and skills and resources needed throughout the country, and to assist in planning and policy development for human capacity-building. Project staff participated in initial preparation and planning, collaborated in the design of the forms and templates to be used in the audit, and met with involved agencies and partners to discuss the initiative and its importance. Data collection began in May following a participant and stakeholder orientation meeting with all MOH agencies, private clinics, pharmacies and district hospitals. Data assessment is currently underway.
