Country Director

As a growing organization, IntraHealth International, Inc. continuously seeks talent from the international public health sector. We are particularly interested in individuals with experience in state-of-the-art health and family planning/reproductive health strategies and programs, and the ability to lead and manage USAID projects in an international setting. Our continuing recruitment positions include Country Directors. Position responsibilities include: lead and manage USAID, USG and foundation funded FP/RH and/or HIV/AIDS projects in a country office; provide overall leadership, coordination and management support for the planning, implementation and evaluation of the program in collaboration with in-country contacts at the central, regional and district levels; manage start-up of new projects and initiatives; and supervise professional and administrative country staff. Position requirements include: Master's degree in public health or a related discipline; broad-based knowledge of family planning programs, maternal and child health, and STI/HIV derived from substantial experience in health programs in the region and facility in communicating that knowledge to a diverse audience; 7 years' professional public health and/or development experience with at least 3 of those overseas (for expatriate applicants); management training and experience in general health programs or HIV, gender/family planning/reproductive health; excellent oral and written communication skills in English including the capacity to prepare and deliver formal presentations on project progress and results (knowledge of local language languages a plus); proven ability to lead and manage a team and the ability to work with other cooperating agencies and regional and headquarters offices; proven ability to hire and train local staff and consultants; strong computer skills; and willingness to travel at least 25% within country on project activities, with occasional international travel to participate in IntraHealth International or other meetings.
